One in five children have dyslexia, which makes it very difficult for them to learn using traditional teaching methods. But, there are ways to help those children succeed in school. Chamber Ambassadors recently celebrated the opening of 3D Learning Center at 1400 N. 30th Street, Suite 16. Co-Directors Brandy Neiswender and Mary Cramm specialize in screening and tutoring children with dyslexia.

Chamber Ambassadors joined the Gem City, Golden K and Quincy Noon Kiwanis Clubs in celebrating the grand opening of a new playground in Lincoln Park. The new swings, slides and climbing apparatus are accessible to children of all abilities, and the park is the only one of its kind in the area. This project was completed in recognition
of the 100th Anniversary of Kiwanis International.

The store will officially open for business on Saturday, Aug. 29. Formerly located at 812 Maine as the Salvation Army Thrift Store, the new retail facility is more than triple the size of the old store and has a drive-up drop off location off the alley. Volunteers and staff have been working for months on a new organization system to make shopping easier for customers. In addition to clothing and housewares, the store features furniture, jewelry, collectibles, gifts and more. Store hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

designation as a federally qualified health center new access point. The new designation comes with federal dollars to fund programs to increase access to quality primary care services for underserved and vulnerable populations. It will help the center provide comprehensive primary, preventive and supplemental health care services, including access to oral health and behavioral health services.
Officials project more than 8,000 patients will benefit.

Adams Fiber, a division of Adams Telephone Co-Operative, to bring fiber-optic cable into homes in Quincy. The first neighborhood where fiber-optic cable will be installed is in the Breckenridge subdivision in southeast Quincy near John Wood Community College.
