Meet Madonna House
If you’re on the west side of State Street on Saturday mornings or Tuesday afternoons, you may see a line of people at 601 State St. getting food for their families. They are among the people the Madonna House feeds a few times a week out of its food pantry. And no one is turned away, said Executive Director Joanne Dedert.
“We have a humanistic approach to everyone who uses our food pantry and our services in general. We’ve had former clients make donations to the Madonna House, saying we were there when they needed us, and we treated them with dignity and respect. We average 1,200 individuals monthly at our food pantry,” she said.
