Meet Leland’s Lawn & Landscaping

Russell McMullen, owner of Leland’s Lawn and Landscaping, says there is no need for homeowners to be envious of their neighbors’ beautiful yards. February is the perfect time to make a plan for new landscaping and/or applications that can make your yard the best in the neighborhood.

“Your landscaping can make all the difference between a beautiful home and a stunning home,” says McMullen, who has nearly a decade of experience and an associate’s degree in applied science with an emphasis in horticulture from John Wood Community College. “There’s no doubt that a beautiful lawn increases the value of your home.”

McMullen and his crew perform routine lawn care and a wide range of landscaping services to customers in the Quincy area, including mowing, mulch work, brush and tree trimming, and spring and fall clean-up. They spread fertilizer, broadleaf control and pre-emergence to keep your lawn looking plush and green. They also can perform larger construction projects such as patio installations, brick paving, stone work and water features.

“Now is the time of year to begin planning for those larger projects,” says McMullen. “With their yard pretty much bare due to the winter, customer have a blank canvas on which we can create a beautiful picture.

“I try to really listen to what the customer wants and help them find unique ideas,” he continues. “For instance, we can put a bridge over a pond, turn a retaining wall into a waterfall…even add a putting green in your back yard. Now, that would impress the neighbors, improve your golf score and help pass the time while the steaks are grilling.”

McMullen says that the synthetic materials used in the putting greens are also very practical for small areas with a lot of traffic, such as an outdoor area used by a home daycare. The area will remain green and perfectly manicured with no effort or additional cost.

Leland’s Lawn and Landscaping can also light your deck, patio, or stairways with i-lighting and they sell pond liners, do-it-yourself pond kits and accessories through www.lelandlandscaping.com.

“It seems like as soon as the weather starts to get warmer in late March, everyone goes crazy to get their landscaping done,” says McMullen, “but calling earlier is better. At this time of year, when I am not working outside, I have more time to devote to the planning process.”
