Member Spotlight: Associated Bank

Associated Bank, located at 706 Maine, is not only committed to staying in the Quincy community, it is committed to a location on Broadway. They are just looking for the perfect spot, according to Branch Manager Lisa Hoffman.

“Our 24th and Broadway location was closed back in March because of the declining condition of the building,” she says. “However, we know the importance of being on both ends of town for our customers’ convenience, and we are in the process of finding the ideal location. In the meantime, we’ve expanded our lobby hours and re-opened the drive-thru at this location to help accommodate our 10,000 transactions each month. We have a night deposit and an ATM machine here, too.

“The silver lining in this whole experience is that customers who don’t normally have a reason to come to the downtown area are getting to see all the great businesses we have here,” she continues.

Serving more than a million customers through 269 locations in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota, many Associated Bank branches can trace their roots to the 1880s and 1890s. The Quincy branch is a successor of the former Quincy Peoples Savings and Loan Association.

“As a company, we’re rediscovering the history of Associated,” says Hoffman. “We’re collecting documents and artifacts that acknowledge our predecessors for their efforts in building the bank and our involvement in our communities. We invite anyone who has such things to share them with us.”

Associated Bank offers a full range of commercial and consumer banking products and services, such as checking and savings accounts, Certificates of Deposit, Individual Retirement Accounts, credit and gift cards, online banking and a complete line of lending services.

The company’s newest services allow business customers to make deposits without coming to the bank and to process payroll even when they are not in the office.

“With our Onsite Deposit Manager, businesses can scan checks and transmit images for posting and clearing to their Associated Bank account. All you need is a computer with broadband Internet connection and a check scanner. You never have to leave the comfort of your office, “says Hoffman. “In the Business Online Payroll system, employers use a simple process to enter payroll data, then we deposit and file all payroll taxes and distribute pay to employees receiving direct deposit.

“As a regional bank, we are big enough to offer the latest in products and services and we are financially strong with $21 million in assets,” she continues. “However, we are still small enough to offer personal service. We take responsibility for our customers’ needs on the local level. We have two personal bankers on staff, and we don’t believe in asking customers to dial a 1-800 number when they have a question or concern.”

Nationally, more than 90% of the bank’s loans are to customers located within the three-state region, in keeping with their commitment to invest in the local communities they serve. Staff members at the Quincy branch are also active in Kiwanis and local schools, among others.

New lobby hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Drive-thru hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Stop by, call Hoffman at 223-4050, or visit www.associatedbank.com
