Member Spotlight: Shoe Carnival

Whether you stand all day in a retail store, sit behind a desk in an office, or work on the floor of a manufacturing company, your shoes are critical, according to Robin Jenkins, general manager of Shoe Carnival at 6206 Broadway.

“Shoes must be comfortable, functional and appropriate,” she says. “If you stand all day, we have some stylish high heeled shoes that are really very comfortable. Rubber stacked heels, heels that are more flexible, and heel stabilizers all help with comfort ability. The high heel is sometimes offset by a platform under the ball of the foot so that the foot isn’t really all that angled. Shoes with pointy toes have extra cushion under the ball of the foot. We also have gel insoles that can be purchased separately and inserted into any shoe. There is no reason to sacrifice comfort for fashion.

“Your shoes are important even if your feet are not seen often,” Jenkins continues. “You do leave your desk for meetings and errands, and your shoes are part of your professional image.

“If you work in a construction or manufacturing setting, you need to look for shoes that are safety-oriented with steel toes and good gripping surfaces. We have all kinds of shoes,” Jenkins says.

Shoe Carnival, one of the newest retailers to open in the Prairie Crossing shopping complex in 2007, carries a wide assortment of shoes for every occasion. Brand names and value pricing make for a one-stop footwear destination that satisfies the needs of the entire family.

“Our back-to-school season is almost as big as the Christmas season because of our wide selection of athletic footwear,” says Jenkins. Shoe Carnival carries shoes by Nike, Asics, Reebok, Columbia, New Balance, Sketchers and more.

Ladies shoes include pumps, sandals, wedges, peep toes, patents, metallic and other fashions by Liz Claiborne, Clarks, and Eastland, along with Solanz and Cabrizi made especially for Shoe Carnival stores. They also carry Rockport, Dockers, Street Car, Nunn Bush, French Shriner and more for men.

“Our corporate buyers travel to New York and California to see what the high market fashion trends are,” Jenkins says, “and you see those styles in our store here in Quincy. Of course, we always carry the classic styles like men’s dress shoes, boots and black stiletto heels but we also have a wide variety of seasonal shoes.”

Shoe Carnival stores have their own style. The open format, catchy music and friendly associates set the stage for a fun shopping experience that includes hula hoop and trivia contests, timed specials announced unexpectedly over the microphone and the Spin and Win Wheel that awards prizes and savings.

“Now, we also have Shoe Perks, an incentive program that rewards shoppers with bonus points for their birthdays and for shopping on specific days of the week. They get notification of non-advertised sales and dollars-off coupons.”

Shoe Carnival is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Visit www.shoecarnival.com or call (217) 228-4412 for more information.
